YOP – Year 5 week 47

YOP 5a

These weeks are counting down rather quickly with not many left until another YOP year wraps up.

I’ve been working steadily away on projects even though I missed last weeks update. We were having a family day out. I even had a new release in those two weeks.

Farraige was released. She is a parallelogram shaped shawl with a fringe edge. She is the first in a new collection, the Summer Memories Collection

Progress on a sample knit of my new design, Gaineamh has been slow but mainly due to the fact that life got hectic and busy, more so than usual. I’ve just worked on it when I can and if it’s delayed then it’s delayed. I do love the soothing constant rhythm to this one and only wished to have the time to knit more on it.

My Fíorghrá KAL started last week and I’ve enjoyed working on this a huge amount. I love how the beads and yarn are working together and  it is just what I pictured it to be, which I always love when that happens. I’m really looking forward to adding this piece to my accessory wardrobe. There is still plenty of time to join in, KAL runs until the 26th June so will end just before this current YOP Jun-Jul year.

Fíorghrá 2

Yesterday I spent some time catching up on my Simones Wedding Shawl as part of the OwlCatDesigns KAL on Instagram. I’m way back on part 6 and although I am further on than this picture I am still a bit behind some of the other fantastic looking shawls, the colour choices of each of them is so inspiring and you know I need more inspiration 🙂 This is a really relaxing knit also, the garter stitch stripes offering just a little relaxation in between those lace sections which kick it up a tad and add interest. Again another piece I’m looking forward to adding to my accessory wardrobe!

Lastly I recently purchased the Sundae Sock pattern by the very talented Shannon Squire and I cast those on last night about an hour before bed and worked on them. I can’t tell you how fun and enjoyable it was and another inch and I’m going to be at the heel. I did have to frog Fledermaus in order to have needles (I knit most of my socks 64sts on a 2.25mm for a good fit for me). I was enjoying Fledermaus but I think I fell out of love with them a tad and I will re-knit them just not right now. The real question though is why have I only one set of 2.25mm dpns! I’m a dpn sock knitter and that seems a wee bit crazy to me to have only one pair! I think this is something I’m going to have to rectify. Also I don’t have a picture of the sock so you will have to keep an eye out for that 🙂 But look at one of my newest project bags, just perfect for a pair of socks. The hedgehog bag that currently has my Fíorghrá was also purchased with this one. I love hedgehogs they are my favourite animal so I just couldn’t resist getting that one.

Sundae Socks

I’ve updated my project pages and my Sprinkle “Sundae Socks” can be found here and of course all of my other yop projects here. You will also notice I’ve my folder for YOP 6 already set up and ready to go in a couple of weeks.

You have got such great projects on the go. And so organised to have your next year’s project page ready! I think next week in half term I will try to get myself organised.

  2. Becki says:

I love the Farriage shawl. The color, the fringe. Everything. I’m in denial that this YOP year is coming to a close soon. I think I’m just going to stay that way for another few weeks. ;^)

    • Ruth says:

Haha Becki but half the enjoyment is in the planning of the next and the wrap up posts, oh how I love the wrap up posts, they always amaze me!
