YOP – Year 5 Week 3

YOP 5a

I had a couple of aims last week;

  1. Finish the sample design and get the first draft written and sent off to my tech editor.
  2. Finish the Hulst Sock.
  3. I should also have my next pattern coming on sale this week. It’s back with my tech editor getting the final look over, my test knitters did a wonderful job with it. Do keep an eye out in my Ravelry group here for it.

Yes well none of those are actually complete, they are 3/4 way to being done, so nearly there but I can’t mark any of those off.

I tweaked the design one last time and the draft pattern is now nearly complete, I’m hoping that’s going to be going to my tech editor by mid week. I also didn’t like the yarn I was knitting the sample in so decided to start again with a new sample in this Life in the Long Grass yarn in the colour way Emerald Eve.

The Walking on Sunshine Hulst second sock is now half way done on the foot. This is where it was yesterday evening before I worked on it. With only half the foot and the toe left to do I’m hoping to finish this up today. The KAL for these ends on Tuesday and I’d really like it done by then.

With the Walking on Sunshine Hulst socks close to being finished and the sample knit nearly complete also I can turn my attention to starting another sock pattern off the list. I’m between one of the pairs of How I make My Socks and the River Rapids Socks, so we will see what one get’s decided next week.

Design wise I have another pattern that is also near draft stage and I’ve been busy in the design den working on others and laying out a schedule.

My Yop list is looking something like this now;

  1. That Emerald Eve colour way is absolutely stunning! Can’t wait to see what you knit from that!!
    Your Hulst socks look like a very sunny, summery pair of socks, so I bet you’ll get good wear from them this summer and fall :0

    • Ruth says:

      Thank you, Emerald Eve is just stunning and suits the design far better. With the weather we are up having right now these will fast become my wear all year socks! 😀

  2. Lucy Bowen says:

    All your projects are coming along nicely, love the Hulst socks. I’m already looking forward to your next socks, I would go for river rapids socks as I am into patterns right now, but all the colourways are gorgeous!

  3. PJ says:

    Love your list of socks. Can’t wait to see what you choose next, they are both beautiful.

  4. Ann says:

    Ooo that green yarn is simply scrumptious! I would be interested to hear how you like Susan B. Anderson’s How I Make My Socks pattern. I watched a podcast of her explaining how she does self striping yarn socks so as not to mess up the stripes.

    • Ruth says:

      I will let you know, the yarn I have is quite busy, I’m not sure if it’s self striping or just crazy all over the place so it will be interesting to see how that turns out.

  5. Kepanie says:

    I am all over that emerald. It’s fiberlicious. The yellow made me smile.

    • Ruth says:

      There is definitely something smiley about that yellow and those socks and I can’t tell you how fiberlicious (that is just the perfect word for it!) it is in real.

  6. Becki says:

    Those Walking on Sunshine Hulst socks are beautiful – the color and the pattern. I will enjoy watching your progress here on knitting all those other great sock patterns, too.

  7. Marsha says:

    Your yellow sock is so bright and cheery. Love it. I am interested to see which sock you decide to do next. Both are interesting to me and the yarn choices are fantastic too. Good luck on your designing this week.
