YOP – year 4 week 31

For the early part of this week it has mostly been about blog posting.

Danu had her blog post here and Fódhla had her blog post here if you missed them, there are a lot more pictures to be seen on both posts. More than just the one I put into last weeks yop blog post.

With every evening having been taken up with different things actual work on projects didn’t begin until Wednesday. I had lots to do but this week just seemed to have been running away from me.

I decided to concentrate on finishing off the smaller Danu size and the second glove seemed to be a two step forward three step back kind of glove. It easily could have been finished by Thursday but instead took until early yesterday evening…ah well it’s done now and for someone like me who needs the small size they fit well … like a glove (excuse the pun but they do!)

So with only finishing those off I was left with the decision on what to cast on next yesterday evening, I opted for working with this blue and orange

to tweak an older design of mine as I figured with it being late in the day I might stand a better chance with it than swatching up this yarn for Banbha the last shawl. I intend to do that today.

The blue and orange project (I’m not going to say what its name is just yet, it has actually been decided whew!) I expect to be finished Monday sometime

so that will leave either Banbha being cast on, if the swatch works out, and being the sole project or I may attempt to use this last bit of yarn to knit another pair of Danu, it might be a bit of yarn chicken going on and I’m not sure I’m up to that with this yarn this week and I’m still quite enjoying concentrating on one sole project at a time.

My project page is relatively up to date and all notes so far can be read here.

If you would like to read other blogs taking part in this yop year or to join in yourself you can find us here on Ravelry.

  1. Your Danu design is lovely! I really love that you use Irish yarns and pull your names and inspirations from Irish legends. And lovely photographs too!

I feel like you’re just so much more practical with your projects for the year…I’m kind of all over. But, I also know that I need choices and if I don’t have them, I get bogged down and never do anything. That’s just not fun. So, I guess it’s okay. I have no idea where I was going with that…oh well. This is what happens when I’ve only had 6 hours of sleep.

I get what you mean I am far more focused on what the end goal is to be from January and I’m quite enjoying it but it’s not for everyone and everyone needs their own way the main point is for it to be fun 🙂

  3. gracey says:

I can’t wait to see the third shawl….and I also need the small size for mitts…..

  4. dottyrobins says:

Looking forward to the third shawl… If your others are anything to go by it will be magnificent I’m sure xx

  5. Lucy Bowen says:

Love the shawls so far, and their stories. Can’t wait for number 3.

  6. Charne says:

Looking forward to seeing the green with the beads! A ball of yarn must be one of the yummiest sights! 🙂

  7. Kepanie says:

Wonderful Danu design. I like the snug fit which i would need too.

  8. Iris says:

I’m really loving the design of your gloves – so pretty!

Looking forward to seeing more of your future projects – it all looks very promising!!

  9. I know I’m late and not sure you’ll see this but had to stop and tell you how much I adore your projects. The fingerless mitts are my favorite as I love the yarn and the design..just perfect.
    Also, your shawl is beautiful.
