Working a double crochet

To work a double crochet,

1. Starting with a foundation chain, insert the hook from front to back in the second chain from the hook.

2. Yarn over the hook.

3. Pull through just the first loop on the hook, leaving two loops on the hook.

4. Yarn over the hook again and pull through both loops on the hook, leaving one loop on the hook. This completes the double crochet.

??????????5. Continue this way working one double crochet in each chain stitch.

At the end of the row turn, work one chain for the turning chain, remembering this does not count as a stitch when doing double crochet. Follow the above steps to work your row of double crochet.
