Beanie a long

Today I’m joining in with Knitspiring Odyssey

In this Beanie a long we are making 5, yes just 5 beanies in a year.

Posting is going on each Tuesday and you can link up over on Stefs blog link above and borrow her wonderful banner and jump right in.

The last two Tuesdays I’ve not posted as I’ve been searching out beanie patterns.

I’ve noticed over the last year or so my style in beanie has changed from something tight and close-fitting which it was last year to this year wanting something a little slouchier or a different style.

I also need to knit a beanie for my husband who has been waiting oh so patiently for one.

For him I’m going back to this tried and trusted pattern Jacques Cousteau

This is my go to hat for men as the simple ribbing makes it a size to suit and fit all.

Also the long brim means it can be folded to whatever length suits the wearer.

I’ve one of these hats in pink for myself and it is my most worn hat.

My eldest son James loves beanies and wears them for the majority of the year regardless of weather.

He has built up a collection and is always after more.

For him I want to knit this Bend Hat

I have all 5 of the beanies in this collection and I’m sure he will get another one or two.

For myself I’ve a few I want to do. I’m thinking of taking a beanie pattern and just making it slouchier.

I particularly like this Helen Meet Meg hat.

As I say my most worn hat has a longer brim so I may work this into this hat when I come to knit it.

As my regular readers will know after learning to crochet this past January I’ve fallen in love with this form of yarn art and so I want to crochet some hats as well.

I in particular love these Baker Boy style hats with brim and top of my list is this Alika Hat and Vika Cap

So there you have some of the beanies I’m hoping to knit or at least what takes my fancy so far.

I also have an idea for my own design in a beanie and I hope to work that up also in this beanie a long year.

You go, Ruth! Fabulous eye of beanie patterns. The Bend one with all the other designs are awesome with the cabling. And the Jaques one, classic! I can’t wait to see you start a crochet one. Thank you for joining in and sharing my BALWM.

Oh your most welcome it’s no hardship joining in with friends and it’s going to be fun. I now have a reason to knit and or crochet extra hats. Looking forward to getting started.

I love that Helen Meet Meg hat and have added it to my favorites! I just got a bunch of yarn money for my birthday and will be doing some knitting for MYSELF this fall so patterns are getting added left and right to my favorites on Ravelry!

Oh exciting, can’t wait to see what you pick and sometimes it’s so lovely knitting for oneself. I know it doesn’t happen to often but we sure do appreciate it when we get to so enjoy.
