WIP Wednesday

WIP WednesdayThis week I was supposed to be working on a second sock but I am like a magpie and got distracted by bright new shiny yarn that I bought to try crocheting a bag.

On the left you can see the bag so far and I only started it yesterday evening ! This is the first thing bigger than a cloth that I have attempted to crochet and it is going good. I’ve just completed the rounds for the base and I’m doing the sides. There are going to be some caramel biscuit coloured stripes in the sides. I’m hoping the rest of the bag goes as smoothly as the start. I’m crocheting this in Stylecraft Special DK and I’ve gone down a hook size to a 3mm to give a tighter stitch.

On the right is a cloth I’ve cast on. I’m using King Cole’s Bamboo Cotton again and this cloth is Baked with Love.

I’m reading The Alexandria Link by Steve Berry and I’m right in the thick of the action of the book now and I’m glued to it, this book is heading for being finished this week.

On audio I’m listening to The House at Riverton by Kate Morton and I’m pleased to say that after a somewhat slow start it is also starting to get to the centre of the story.

For today’s post I’m checking in both with Tami and Ginny and to see other posts like this head over to their blogs.

I never abandon my current project to play with new, exciting, beautiful yarn…. HA! My nose just grew. 😀

  4. Love the bag, it’s great how quickly crochet works up. Your bag is looking lovely 🙂

::sigh:: Crochet. I think I’m going to have to learn…but there are so many things I want to do with my knitting and then I’d have to learn something new. I do like the look of the new bag 🙂

  6. Going down a hook size or two on something like a bag where you want it sturdy is always a good idea. Caramel stripes are going to be fab!

  7. Linda S says:

Love the bag your crocheting Ruth. I think crochet is much faster than knitting.

  8. Kepanie says:

That red draws me like a moth to a flame. It’s so attractive. I can’t wait to see the caramel stripes. It’s funny how crochet can work, yeah? So different from knitting.

Glad I’m not the only one casting on this week. Love the look of the bag so far. The hook can be very addictive.
Enjoy your pretty colours and the stories.
