It’s Monday, What am I reading…6 with review

For today’s post I’m checking in with Sheila at Book Journey

Last week I was reading Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. I got this out as an audio book from my library and I can now do this online and download it to my i phone and pop in my earplugs and listen away. Its wonderful as I’m able to continue knitting or stitching while listening to the story.

This was a previous month’s read for a bookclub I’m in and I decided to do some catching up on previous reads. Believe me if I’d seen this book I’d most likely not have picked it up and read it as it just says chick lit to me and as you know I read chick lit rarely and then I’m extremely choosy about what ones I read. But this book turned out to be so much more !!
My thoughts..
Lou Clark works in a cafe in a small English town. She lives with her parents, grandfather, sister and nephew. She’s going out with her boyfriend Patrick for 7 years. She has no ambition or at least none that we see at the start.

Will Traynor is a quadriplegic. After his accident some two years previous in the city his life has changed and changed so much from what it was.

When Lou looses her job in the cafe she ends up working as Will’s carer and so both embark on a journey together. Under normal circumstances they probably would not have met, never have been friends, never have fallen in love with each other. Yes this is a romance but not in the normal typical sense. This is a romance in normal life terms, it is messy and not everything goes the way you think kind of way.

JoJo Moyes brings her characters to life in a most believable way and writes a book that can make you laugh out loud and cry within a few chapters of itself.

I very much liked the ending, it was not some fairytale make believe, it was true to the story. What would you do in either position ?

This is a story that I think will remain long after it is read and it is why I’ve given it 4 out of 5 toadstools for that and for the fact it made me laugh and cry, not an easy accomplishment !

I’m still reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I can’t tell you how much I’m loving this book, so much so I’m reluctant to get to the end of it but will I’d imagine finish it up this week.

I also downloaded another audio book to my phone and I’m listening to.

Books next to be started :-

I also want to tell you about a kindle book by a local lady, one I’ve downloaded. This is her first book published to kindle and it’s always nice to give support. It is set here in our local area and is a ya genre book.

From Amazon-
Sinead, Anna, Mary and Amy uncover an ancient source of great power while playing a bit of camogie in the ruins of Fore Abbey. The discovery sets in motion a chain of events that will see the girls making some unusual but useful friends, harnessing magic and protecting each other and their home of Fore from a frightening and destructive enemy.
An exciting modern fairy tale set in Ireland, where four school girls , using a little bit of magic and an awful lot of courage defend their home against an ancient threat. This is for anyone who knows not to mess with a teenager girl who can use her camogie stick or has experienced just how special Fore is. A great read for young teenagers

I did up the amount of books to read this year from 12 to 30. I knew once I got back into my reading I was going to read lots, I just needed to get back to it. I’m loving how much I’m getting to read and will slowly get back to the amount I used to read.
 Book Count totals:
Whats in a Name 6 challenge : 3/6
To Be Read Challenge : 1/12
Library Book Reading Challenge : 4/12
Total Books Read Personal Challenge 2013 : 9/30

Happy Reading
Ruth.
