Its Monday What Am I Reading 2

Its Monday and this week I’m reading, In The Woods by Tana French

From Goodreads:-
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.
Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret. But when a twelve-year-old girl is found murdered in the same woods, he and Detective Cassie Maddox—his partner and closest friend—find themselves investigating a case chillingly similar to the previous unsolved mystery. Now, with only snippets of long-buried memories to guide him, Ryan has the chance to uncover both the mystery of the case before him and that of his own shadowy past.

I’m only just about 10% into this book and its a book I’m reading for a book club I’m in and I have to say I should like it, its a murder mystery which is my favourite kind of book so I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.

This book will be counted towards my yearly total of books to read as it doesn’t meet any of the requirements for my other challenges.

Last week I was reading, Looking for Fireworks by Holly Cavendish which I finished and have my review for you now.

What can I say about this book…its predictable from start to end. If your into chick lit then this is the book for you, if you are looking for something with a bit more depth then perhaps carry on past it even though its cover is quite eye catching.

Laney as a character was ok, I neither hated nor loved her and that I think is not great for a character. You should either love or hate the characters you are reading about its what makes them memorable.

I felt at times I was re-living my teenage years..he loves me, he loves me not etc etc !! and the book had a certain playground mentality and once is enough to have gone through the teenager thing without re-living it through the books we read I feel.

I award this book – Two Toadstools
This book was a library book so counts towards my challenge of Library Book Reading Challenge.

I gave that book to my son few years ago for Christmas and I remember him saying he liked it and couldn't put it down. I should go back to posting a What Am I Reading feature to my blog–I used to all the time. Oh, and by the way, I love the toadstools! *smiles and happy reading!*

  2. Vicki says:

  3. Hege says:

In the woods seems like a great mystery book! Here's my It's Monday

  4. Becki says:

The Woods looks interesting, with its cover, and if you say that it's a murder mystery, that's the sort of thing that I enjoy reading as well. I might have to add it to my TBR shelf (which is getting awfully big now!). Thanks for posting!

  5. Nicola says:

I have this one in "my wish list" and will be interested for your views at the end of the book. I am currently reading a DCI Banks novel.

  6. Great review on the 2 Toadstool one! LOL! I love those toadstools….which group is that or is it your own rating system? I love it! The first book looks interesting and I especially like the artwork on the cover. Although, I have a problem reading anything involving violence especially with children so I probably won't read it.

  7. Karen says:

I haven't heard of either of these books. Hope you enjoy. Have a good week.

  8. Kepanie says:

Do you usually check books out of the library or buy them? Do you keep the ones you like and pass on or recycle the ones you don't? I'm imagining a room lined of bookshelves with all that you read.
