YOP Year 2 Update

Morning Bloggers

I hope you all had a happy and peaceful Christmas spent with those who mean the most to you.

We all had a wonderful Christmas. It was as magical as I thought and wanted it to be.

I’m hoping 2013 will healthy and happy for you all. I love a new year approaching the possibilities of what it can hold are endless and I hope your new years hold many wonderful possibilities.

I’m glad to see the end of 2012 its not been the best of years but we are all healthy and happy and have gotten through it relatively unscathed and we have the most wonderful addition to our family that we could ask for and that is a lot to be thankful for.

I guess we should see if I’ve managed to do any knitting now lol.

I had just cast on Susie Roger’s Reading Mitts and they are complete. Lynn over at Minding my Own Stitches said they were a great knit and are her go to mitten well they are mine also. They are the most wonderful knit, quick and easy and with enough pattern to keep you interested and the little bit of lace makes them look so feminine looking. I love that they come in different sizes as I have quite a small hand and the small size in these fit just perfectly. I can see many more pairs of these being knitted!

I’m going through my list this week to see what’s next to be cast on. I did intend to cast on the Hermione’s hearts Ron hat and then move onto the mittens to match but I’m short the needles ! I have a bag full of every needle or so I thought and just when I’ve the next project lined up to start I don’t have that needle..oh well an excuse to check out yarn..oopss needles I meant lol.

I had aimed to complete one pair of fingerless gloves this year and this completes that section but I like the other pairs so much that I feel some of those will be knitted also and probably in favour of the scarves but we shall see.

I love the mitts..mitts and socks are projects on my 2013 list..and I've put them off as I'm a bit afraid.. Is that called a picot edge? Well wishes for you and your family for the new year…a safe and happy one!

  9. I'm glad to see that you've been successful with Susie Rodger's Reading Mitts. Yours look so bright and perky in that fuschia! And it looks like your fit is really good too. Makes me want to cast on another pair 🙂

  11. Happy New Year! How was Miss Evelyn's first Christmas? Wonderful I bet! Your project list always puts me to shame but at the same time motivates me. I am speeding up in the knitting for sure. I was looking at the Hermione's Everyday sock pattern for my next pair but it's not on my YOP list for this year….next year's list is HUGE! LOL! I love those fingerless gloves. I just don't understand the popularity I guess? Fingers are what get frostbite first so why would you leave that part uncovered or am I being too practical? I know they are really popular so I was just curious. I love them though…especially that pattern.Happy New Year to you and yours!

  12. sandy says:

The mittens are awesome, so soft and pretty. Might have to check out that pattern. There are times I'd like to have some while working on the computer when my hands get cold.Glad you had such a nice Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours

  13. Kim says:

Hi Ruth! I can only imagine how magical your Christmas was! I am kind of happy to say good-bye to 2012 too–nothing really terrible, but just ready for a fresh start to things-just need to get through our dreary January first. ;)Your mitts look lovely and is a pattern I have saved for quite some time–the Short and Sweet mitt pattern has been my go to pattern and while I have had some frustration with other patterns, I am thinking of overcoming the trauma and trying this one. Good luck with the yarn, ooos, I mean needle shopping!*smiles*

  14. Nicola says:

Ruth you alwasy amqze me by how much you manage to achieve.
