Deciding Projects !

I’ve gone through my folders set aside for my personal challenge of Folder Folly (more about this in a bit) challenge next year and have selected 13 of them to do in the Turtle Trot SAL thats being run over here at BAP Attack

The Turtle Trot SAL rules are very simple (I like simple lol)

Pick 13 unfinished projects ( I’ve a selection of unfinished ones and some new ones that are top of my list for next to be started)
Blog about them by Jan 13th and each month by the 13th blog about showing whatever progress you’ve made – see I told you it was simple..no deadlines…no pressure, just simple stitching.

Now here is my list- I’ve given links to some of them where I can.

1. Elizabeth Hancock by LHN
2. Cottages of the Month by CCN
3. Hogwarts Crest free pattern from the Leaky Cauldron website
4. Picture stitch of Alan with a tiger
5. Alphabet Series by Prairie Schooler
6. 1 Corinthians  by My Big Toe
7. Olde Irish Blessing by Erica Michaels
8. A turn in the garden by The Sampler Girl
9. Liberty Lane by CCN
10. Home of a Needleworker Too by LHN
11.Rosey by LHN
12.Moon and Stars by LHN
13. Beds of Roses Sampler by Terry Loewen

Four of the above are going to be new but the rest are wip’s that got put aside while other projects got worked on. They are in no particular order and I will be stitching on these as the mood strikes so I may do one until its finished and I may swap around as the mood strikes me.

My own challenge of Folder Folly for next year is an attempt to take my stitching back to the relaxing hobby it is. For the last few years I’ve done pieces for birthdays and for presents and while I enjoy this at times it can get hectic with deadlines for these looming and with a large busy household this is not always practical. I have had a number of  projects set aside in folders that I would like for my own walls for sometime and next year is the year I’m going to get to some of them. I may not have many finishes but the aim is more to just stitch for the enjoyment of it. Just like Turtle Trot I’m going to stitch a project when the mood strikes for as long as I want.

I’ve also chosen and ordered the sampler I want to do for Nicola’s Scarlet Letter Year it is Elizabeth Simon 1758 . This is most likely going to be the only sampler I’ll do for this SAL but I think if I can accomplish one sampler I will be doing good.

I’m sorry I’ve no photos but do follow the links to any projects that take your fancy and let me know there might be a project for  mini sal’s as well. Folder Folly for anyone wanting to join is just personal projects for yourself that you may want to do, can be 1- 100 or more lol.

Happy stitching,
Ruth.

Wow, some lovely projects there. I think a lot of us what to take a step back and stitch for ourselves for a little while…says me reading blogs in between making make up bags rofl …but then it isnt 2013 yet 😉

How nice that you'll be taking your time and stitching for your own walls. The Scarlet Letter sampler you chose is wonderful! I'm looking forward to watching your stitching progress next year!

  3. This sounds great for me since I was including some cross stitch in my YOP on Ravelry where it probably didn't belong because I have many cross stitch projects left undone from years past. My goal since I retired is to finish my UFO's along with learn to knit and get back to my crocheting. Is SAL a stitch along? Are you doing the Folder Folly on your blog? I love your projects in cross stitch too…we definitely have similar tastes. I was glad I visited your projects because I didn't even know that beautiful projects like that existed. I'm not into the "cute" type cross stitch for myself but the replicated samplers are gorgeous. I need to get better…I lost my touch as I haven't cross stitched for years. Thanks again for sharing all those beautiful projects.

What a great idea. I don't have 13 unfinished projects (two I think) but I will be your cheerleader!

  5. Karoline says:

Good luck with your goals 🙂

  6. Nicola says:

You have some gorgeous projects in the pipeline Ruth looking forward to seeing your progress throughout the year.

  7. I like the idea of the Turtle Trot SAL!

  8. Hi Ruth. I like your list and your initiative. I had to roll most of mine over, but I will be stitching along with you on Nicola's Scarlet Letter Year. Merry Christmas!
