YOP Year 2 Update

Morning Bloggers,

I’m a day late but yesterday was a relaxing day, we spent it listening to xmas songs and watching some xmas movies and we had the turning on of the lights in the local village which Ian took the bigger ones to yesterday evening. This is the last week of school before the holidays and I can’t wait until Friday lunchtime, two weeks of no running to and from school and extra activities and two weeks of relaxing and enjoying ourselves at home and the excitement..its building and building already so by next weekend lots of little ones will be fit to burst!

Miss Evelyn has been doing great, she’s now just past her birth weight which the nurses are pleased with and is a quiet baby, nothing in this world quite equals the cuddles and snuggles you get…pictures at the end..well ok just one now, who can resist..

Miss Evelyn

Knitting wise, I’ve been knitting a hat for myself this week and I know I had a selection of patterns to knit but none of them quite took my fancy yet so instead I chose this Godric’s Hollow Hat pattern, just to keep the Harry Potter geekyness going lol. I had this gorgeous Malabrigo worsted in a natural colour which I used. This yarn is just heavenly, I can’t seem to get it so easily this side of the world and was sent this one in an exchange but I’ll be on the look out for somewhere to order it from!

Godric’s Hollow Hat

My model kindly posed for some quick photos with the completed hat.

As the above hat is so soft and really not the most practical of colours I’ve delegated it to good wear and so I need a hat for everyday wear !…well I also need hats in matching colours to my outfits but I’ll get there with that some day to…
For an everyday hat I went back to this Jacques Cousteau Hat pattern that I knit for James earlier in the year and cast on for this in a dark fuschia colour. The yarn I’m using is Stylecraft DK Life yarn. Its not so long on the needles but here’s what it looks like at the moment.

As yes now some more pics lol…I’m slowly working my way through the pictures I’ve taken and here are just a couple..

See I am sometimes awake lol!

Lady Evelyn

Benjamin is totally in love with Evelyn and loves nothing more than having a cuddle and giving her kisses

Lady Evelyn and Benjamin

This is a wonderful shot…James my eldest holding Evelyn, he loves wee ones this small and has great patienece and care with them

James and Lady Evelyn

This here is my little princess who adores having her picture taken as much as ever, its been awhile since she’s been on the blog, she is the biggest help ever with Evelyn, everything I do she loves to help out with..its very cute seeing her pretend to be a mini mammy lol.

Princess Elizabeth.

You’ll note she’s still my princess, something she was wanting to confirm when I came home with Evelyn and although she says she’s a princess to, the title is very much Elizabeths, so while Elizabeth is Princess, Evelyn is going to be my little Lady or my little Miss, its what her names suggests to me anyway lol.

Happy Knitting,
Ruth.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Adorable pictures of your clan. Your day sounds wonderful, the kind I like. Wow, you sure get a long Christmas break. Don't think we had that long when mine was young and in school. Think it was only a week. Enjoy your time. I too am looking forward. DD comes home Friday and will be here just over a week. We just don't get to see enough of her.

  4. SoCal Debbie says:

How nice that you can knit up so many hats and scarves and gloves for everyone! They must be so much better than the ones I would pick up at the store instead. Your family is beautiful! How nice that they have titles such as Princess and Lady. LOL

  5. Tricia says:

  6. Suzy says:

Nicely done, Mom! Evelyn is a beauty! Lovely hat, too, but lets face it, it's all about the snuggly new one at this point, right?

  7. Nicola says:

Your children are adorable. I am always amazed how you manage everything, you are an inspiration.

  8. Margaret says:

I am amazed at how much you accomplish. Hats off to you! Although probably with all the lovely warm hats and gloves you have knitted you want to keep them on!

  9. So much cuteness. I have to admit I was hoping for another picture or two of Evelyn so I'm not disappointed :)Isn't Malabrigo lovely? Makes knitting a real pleasure, doesn't it? I'm reminded about the value of good quality yarn – on Saturday I was working with some kids learning to knit and one had this acrylic yarn that was really splitty, inflexible and squeaky 😦 She was really struggling with it, so I think I'd better bring her some nicer yarn when the group starts up again in January!

  10. Linda says:

Love the finished hat Ruth and the color of the newest one. Your children are all so adorable. Give that baby a hug for me.Linda

  11. nauget bluff says:

I want to hold her..!! You can see the joy in benjamen's eyes as he holds her..it's cute how little princess needs to make sure she's still the princess…glad your getting lots of r & r..

  12. If you don't have the best looking children and so helpful. Now I know where Miss Evelyn got her good looks too! I love your projects and again you are my "motivator"! Take care!

  13. Love the hat and your kids are all adorable!!!

  14. ahhhhh – congratulations again on your beautiful family and your sleeping girl! Love both hats, the first looks so snuggly and the second will be beautiful in that colour. I've done fingerless mitts in Dashing and One Cable Mitts, the Dashing worked up nicely in DK and the others were snuggly Aran.

  15. Kepanie says:

Ruth, your children are beautiful. It's so heartwarming to see how they've lovingly embraced Evelyn. My brother and sister-in-law just delivered three days ago. My niece Miranda came over yesterday and it was heaven to hold her.

  16. Kepanie says:

Oh! And I love your new hat! Your version is the best and so inspiring.
