YOP Year 2 Update

Morning Bloggers,

Just getting the update in before some chores need doing.

This week was not one of the best, I left you last week with the two younger boys having just gotten over a bug and I’d been up all night with them well poor Elizabeth then came down with it and I spent two nights up with her and then I came down with it and it completely floored me….having spent four nights up with the children when it hit I was just wrecked and so it took a little longer to get over it. I seem to be back to myself but not much appetite but I’m getting there. Check up with baby during the week says everything is on track and baby is doing good. I think we have all organised with just needing to wait it out now, this of course is the hardest part lol !

On the knitting front it was late this week before I felt up to picking up the needles but as I was tired and needed the rest I’m so pleased to have gotten Dominic’s hat all complete.
For his hat I used again the King Cole Merino DK yarn and I used this Basic Beanie pattern.

Basic Beanie

I also got some new yarn this week. I got some balls of Stylecraft DK weight (purple and pink) to try them out. They feel very soft and are an acrylic and wool blend. The purple will be used for a hat for my sister for Christmas all going well. The Orange is Manos Del Uruguay Silk Blend 4ply. I’ve gotten this for when all Christmas presents are done to start work on the other items on my yop list. The first being the Hermione Hearts Ron beanie and fingerless gloves which I will use this for. I also needed to stock up on some dpn’s that I didn’t have the size in for some other hats off the yop list.

New Stash.

Its been some time since I looked at the entire list and added in the extra patterns I’ve been doing so here is a look at how its going.

Year of Projects List 2012/2013

Hats :-  1/6
Harry Potter Hufflepuff Beanie – just one left to complete the collection
Strib Hat– I have yarn to knit three of these for the three younger children – COMPLETE 3/3

Slouched Tuva Hat

Scarves :-  0/6

Cowls :-  0/1
These are a few of the patterns I like but I’ve not picked which one or indeed how many of them I will knit, that is to be decided when I start on a cowl.
Eirin Cowl – these also have a pattern for fingerless gloves which I love also
Rhosyn Cowl – these also come with a pair of matching fingerless gloves and a headband
Pendleton Cowl – I love the colourwork in this one

Fingerless Gloves :-  0/1
I want to make one pair of fingerless gloves this year, more if I get the time. Again these are some of the patterns I have in mind but I’m undecided on which one.
Brontes Mitts
Victoria Fingerless Mittens
Susie’s Reading Mitts
Hermione Hearts Ron Fingerless Gloves

Socks :-  0/1
I would love to knit a good few pairs of socks but that not may be possible so I shall aim to knit this pair anyway and anything over that shall be a bonus.
Hermiones Everyday Socks

Dishcloths :-  8/25
My aim is to continue knitting one a week until the end of December. This post I’m moving here to a Sunday and I’m making it part of the projects as it will be something I’m doing. – Weekly Challenge

Advent Garland :-  24/24
Smitten A Holiday Garland – this I fell in love with and as family who love an advent calendar I thought this might be different and fun this year, especially if I fill each mitten with a little piece of chocolate for each of the children. – COMPLETE

Items for Baby :-
Baby Kimono  1/1 COMPLETE
Demne Cardigan  1/1 COMPLETE
Sabine Jumper 1/1 COMPLETE
Christmas-y Baby Hat 1/1 – COMPLETE
Cute Noggin Baby Hat 1/1 COMPLETE
Owlie Sleep Sack 0/1 COMPLETE
Pinwheel Baby Blanket 0/1- COMPLETE
Burp Cloths 1/1 COMPLETE
Wash Cloths 4/4 – COMPLETE
Baby Mitts 1/1 COMPLETE

Items for the children :-
Childrens Mittens 3/3 COMPLETE
Jacques Cousteau Hat 1/1 COMPLETE
Basic Beanie 1/3 STARTED

Its not looking so bad, better than I thought and I’m as far on as I’d hoped to be at this stage. I concentrated on items for the baby and Christmas first to get them done out of the way, now I can begin looking at the hats, cowls and fingerless gloves I want to knit and hopefully after baby arrives I can add in a gender coloured item opposed to the creams and beige’s and lemons I’ve been using up to now.

Looking forward to catching up with you all this week as I missed catching up with everyone being ill last week.

Happy Knitting,

Dear Ruth! I am sorry the illness spread so, especially to you. Glad you pulled through it okay. You have so much accomplished on that list of yours. Your lists always have a way of making me feel woozy. ;)Oh my goodness!! 24 days. I am still praying for you and the babe.♥

  2. With all those bugs being passed from one to the next in your family, it's a wonder you've got anything done. Very cheery colours in the beanie 😉 Gosh, I love stripes!

I am so impressed by how much you have done! The new stash is lovely, and looks like it will make a good reward once all the gifts are out of the way. Glad everyone's starting to feel better– it's so hard when a bug sweeps through the family like that.

  4. Sorry to hear you got sick and it hit you so hard!!!!Cute little toque!!!

  5. Oh, you poor dear! It's awful to be sick especially when you're pregnant! My last child I went into labor with a 103 fever and delivered with a fever still and we were both placed in isolation but it all turned out well. I got better and baby never got sick and the isolation was nice and peaceful until I got home! LOL!You still get more done with a big family and being ill than I ever do. I used to get lots done like you when I was younger…no one could get me to sit down! But now I'm old and have 2 chronic diseases so my daughter says…"Now you're like everyone else!" LOL! As usual I love all your projects and I think I will "whip" up some dishclothes before Christmas and that beany hat looks like something I could handle knitting wise. So glad you got all the baby stuff done and Christmas..you're a whiz! So glad to hear all is going well too despite your illness. TTYL! I'm getting excited!!!!

Nice headway on the list. Love the colors in the beanie. So sorry to hear so many of you were under the weather. I'm surprised you're feeling back to normal already. People here have really been ill, several schools closed because both teachers and students were sick.

  7. Linda says:
