YOP Year 2 Update

Evening Bloggers,

Its a little later than I hoped to update but I’ve been making my last Christmas cake and mixing up my pudding mixture which just needs to sit overnight before I can get them ready for boiling. The whole house has a lovely smell of Christmas all this week and the weather has obliged and turned chilly to add to it.

This past week has been busy with swimming finishing up for the children and music, we skip this week music wise for mid term and with lots of to-ing and fro-ing its been hectic and with the start of Xmas baking in the middle well there’s not been many moments for knitting.

Baby wise everything is on track and can you believe it that I’m now under 50 days !! Wow where did that time go ! I’ve packed the hospital bags this week so they are ready whenever baby decides to make its entrance to this world and that’s another thing ticked off the list and I’m happy to say we have decided on names, to be revealed when baby is born !! Sorry I won’t even be giving a hint, you all need patience lol

Knitting wise this week I’ve started and finished these children’s mittens in Elizabeth’s colours to match her hat and I had just enough of the light pink yarn to complete them !

Children’s Mittens

This is her set now complete and another item ticked off my to do for Christmas list !

Hat and Mitten Set

I am also 3/4 way through another dishcloth. It is the same pattern as last weeks cloth. Its a seeded stripe dishcloth . Last weeks and this weeks cloths have both been knit in King Coles Bamboo Cotton Prints and the lovely design of last weeks yarn happened all by itself and I can claim no credit for it.

Seeded Stripe Dishcloth

This week I hope to finish this cloth and get a start made on Ruairí’s hat and if I’m very lucky with the children being off for midterm I’ll also get the mittens to match done.

Looking forward to seeing what you have all been up to this week.

Happy Knitting,
Ruth

I have my cake to do this week hopefully, but the week is already shaping up to be busy, so goodness knows when I'll fit it in!Love the set, perfect in pink! I do love pink, but don't think I've done anything pink.Glad you now have your bags packed, it's always good to know it's done. How about your other littlies, did they come on time, early or late? Mind as you already know they're all different aren't they, keeping us on our toes!Have a good week!

Ruth, YOu continue to amaze me each and every week. You seem to get so much done ! You have time to knit and take care of the family and prepare for the new wee one in less than 50 days.Your projects are always so nice and I love seeing them. I can just smell the scents of Christmas baking from what you described.

You are going to have a very happy little girl when she sees her sweet pink set! I think your seeded stripe pattern is one I need to give a try–it turns out so pretty. I have some orange variegated Halloweenish yarn to use –maybe this week? And less than 50 days?? How can that be? I am anxious to meet your new little one and learn the name! I scrolled down and read your post about your cakes–holy cow lady! You bake amazing stuff!!*smiles and well wishes**

  9. I know a girl who'd like the hat and mits too!!! Nice finishes x

  10. Vickie says:

since you won't tell..I'll start guessing..caleb and maire/mary..course, would help if I knew the names in your family already!

  13. kate says:

Beautiful set! I am so very excited for you, what a fabulous Christmas and New Year it will be in your house! I'm wondering if I can talk my husband into baking a Christmas cake this year rather than buying one…

  14. She's going to love that pink set! Thanks for telling me about the "randomness" of the dishcloth colors…that is really neat how it turns out that way.I have another question about Christmas cakes? I noticed Faith said she was making one too. Do you freeze it or is it something that has to sit for awhile? Because it's aways until Christmas. Maybe I should go look in my Irish magazine about and Irish Christmas…because I'm having one this year! LOL! Evidently, it sounds like I'm already behind!
